Nissan Reveals Self-healing Smartphone Case

Nissan, the world-class carmaker has decided to change some tracks and is now associated with smartphones too. The company has announced the world’s first self-healing iPhone case which claims to heal itself from any scratches or cuts by using a scratch-healing paint that’s used on Nissan and Infinite models.

Nissan self-healing iPhone case is made of ABS plastic shell which is coated with ‘Scratch Shield’ paint; the case has a craggy texture, it is rigid, robust, and tight-fitting and doesn’t have a glossy, slippery finish like other cases.

The magical paint used in this case is polyrotaxane-based; the polyrotaxane has the ability to react to changes and can repair its chemical structure to original state. Nissan claims that small scrape will heal in an hour while deeper cuts may take a week to glue up.

The use of this Scratch Shield paint is already done on Japanese mobile phones like Style Series N-03B of NTT DoCoMo. Nissan is now trying to bring up this technology to other mobile devices and products. The new iPhone case is still in its beta testing stage, the company says the product will be available in the market by the end of this year.

Google Project Glass also has a Competitor

The innovative Google Project Glasses is not even available in the market, but it has already got some potential competitors. Oakley is developing an eyewear that can project information onto the eyewear lenses, which is somewhat similar to the concept of  Google Project Glass.

The technology would let Oakley, a division of Italy’s Luxottica Group SpA (LUX), make hardware that’s comparable with Google’s Project Glass, an experimental effort to build smartphone features into eyewear, Oakley CEO, Colin Baden said to Bloomberg in an interview.

He also said that the technology will work when connected with a smartphone using Bluetooth and can also use voice commands like Siri in the iPhone 4S. The company is working on technologies like head-up displays since 15 years and has 600 patents.

The craze of wearable gadgets is on the raise and future of these interactive glasses seems to be promising but quite ahead of time.

Disappearing Google Logo, a Magic Trick

Here’s a magic trick to surprise your friends with. What they will see is this: you are at the Google homepage, and you casually ask someone to watch the Google logo. Then, you move two of your fingers to completely cover the “o”s in the Google logo. When you remove your fingers, to much surprise, the letters “o” will be missing from the logo.

Now you ask your friend to move her fingers over the missing “o”s. After your friend removes the fingers, the logo will be complete again! The trick here? It’s not really the Google homepage you and your friend are looking at – it’s a fake page (darkartsmedia.com/Google.html).

And when you click on the page, the letters of the logo will disappear after five seconds. Clicking again will make them reappear after five more seconds. So when you move your fingers to cover the Google logo, simply click anywhere on the page, and wait a bit before you remove your fingers… and when your friend covers the letters, you click again. (A third click, by the way, will change the page to an actual Google homepage so you can perform searches to “prove” the page is real.)

The gadget goes on sale this week, priced at $80, Daily Mail reported Tuesday.Once the gadget's topped up, the SolarKindle diverts power to a backup battery.

Eight hours will fully charge the backup, which offers roughly three weeks' use. The battery also powers an LED light, which can run for 50 hours.

The leather-clad pouch with charger panel and battery comes at quite a premium, though - it's $80, only $30 short of the price of Kindle itself.

Overall, the average household has 1.6 Apple devices with almost one quarter planning to buy at least one more in the next year, Xinhua reported. The survey, collecting answers from 836 Americans, found that Apple buyers tend to be male, college-educated and younger.

Ownership is strongly related with household income. Only 28 percent of those making less than $30,000 a year own at least one Apple product, compared with 77 percent of those making more than $75,000.

Households on the higher end of the income own an average of about three Apple devices, while the average number of Apple products for lower-income homes is only 0.6.

Among those at the age of 65 or older, Apple owners still reach 26 percent.
